I started the first few minutes of my birthday with tears in my eyes. The feeling of being alone in a small room without my mother is just the saddest feeling. For twenty-one years, I will always wake-up with my mom. She will hug me and greet me “Happy Birthday Baby”. Living away from my mother is the toughest part that has ever happened to me, I know it was our decision to pursue my master’s degree in London but I have never ever imagined it would be this difficult to live away from my mother. There is really a mother-daughter connection that will never ever be detached. My birthday is not only about myself, it is also about my mother. My mother who took care of me, nurtured me and guided me to be the person who I am today.
Now, as I celebrate my birthday, I would want to acknowledge and congratulate my mother, Daisy Salcines, for her patience and endless love for me. Even if I am stubborn sometimes (Yes, not all the time), she will always try to understand me and talk to me in the politest way possible. She would not tolerate the bad habits and attitudes of mine, instead she will tell me the truth even if it hurts but I know it is her way of teaching and helping me not only about myself but how reality is.
Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to tell all people out there to do not forget to thank your mother on your birthday, without her courage, love and perseverance, we would not be in this world at all. Also, I would like to tell my mother, Daisy Salcines, that I love you so much and you will always be my first love.
Lastly, I would like to thank God for blessing me such a caring and loving mother and giving me a wonderful life which I believe was beyond of what I truly deserve.
